Fire Protection Consultant (Entry Level)
ACS Group is seeking a motivated, curious, and communicative engineering graduate ready to jump into a fast-paced, technically demanding fire protection consulting practice. Our work blends industrial process safety, hazardous materials consulting, and complex fire protection design — making this an excellent opportunity to grow as an engineer while working alongside nationally recognized subject-matter experts.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, or Fire Safety Engineering Technology
Strong communicator, able to write clearly, speak confidently, and coordinate with both internal teams and external partners
Curiosity and initiative — willing to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and engage deeply with technical problems
Collaborative mindset, able to build rapport with clients, contractors, and design partners
Eagerness to learn through mentorship, technical discussions, and field exposure
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
U.S. citizen capable of passing standard background checks
What You’ll Do
Assist in the design and analysis of fire alarm, sprinkler, standpipe, and special hazard systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic modeling software.
Support code consulting and hazard analysis, including classification of occupancies, fire areas, control areas, and hazardous materials per IFC, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
Contribute to dust hazard analyses (DHA), flammable/combustible liquid reviews, and industrial process assessments under direct mentorship.
Draft fire protection reports, life safety code summaries, and technical narratives supporting industrial, higher-education, and research facility projects.
Assist with egress and occupant load calculations, and review building plans for life safety compliance.
Participate in field documentation, assessing existing fire protection systems and code compliance in real-world environments.
Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to ensure integration of fire and life safety systems into project design.
Support construction phase services, including submittal review, field observation, and coordination with clients and AHJs.
Perform basic engineering calculations, including hydraulic, egress, and smoke control analyses.
Research and apply current codes and standards such as NFPA 13, 72, 30, 33, 400, and 855, and the International Building/Fire Codes.
