School Based Liaison LMSW, LLMSW, LLP, TLLP

Do you have a passion for working with diverse youth in a school setting? Would you like to be a valuable member of a mission-minded team that impacts our community? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to work as a School Based Liaison!  

What You Will Be Doing
Working as a School Based Liaison you will work with families, schools and other community stakeholders in a school setting. School-based is a prevention-based program where you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of youth. This proactive approach utilizes coordinated strategies to reduce the likelihood of behavioral, emotional, academic or health concerns.

Your community-based role will allow you to connect and support youth before the need for intensive services arises. This may include:

-Screening and linking youth/families to community resources such as outpatient therapy.
-Completing classroom observations.
-Administering brief mental health screenings.
-Participating in school meetings such as IEP's or 504's.

In addition, you may also complete brief therapy (short-term, time-limited services) and collaborate with school staff regarding behavioral and mental health needs as well as other treatment teams within ISK to deliver coordinated services. 

What We Require
You will have a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field and a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Limited License Psychologist (LLP). The following licensures are also acceptable: Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW), Temporary Limited License Psychologist (TLLP); Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).  

You will have a valid Michigan Driver’s license and a minimum of five years’ experience working with youth with serious emotional disturbance and their families (required).

You will have knowledge of the DSM V, co-occurring disorders, substance use disorders, culturally responsive interventions, evidence-based and promising practice interventions.

You will be familiar with psychotropic medications and the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing work environment.  The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptive to changes in policies and procedures, assist in meeting outcome measures and provide excellent clinical service to consumers.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Physical Efforts – Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate.  May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate.  Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.                  

Working Conditions – Office environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones.  Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time.  Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen.  May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites.  Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
