MU Libraries Peer Navigator

Ellis Library is currently seeking dependable and responsible undergraduates to begin work during the spring semester. 

The position would include approximately 7-13 hours per week (including evenings/Sundays), with preference given to applicants available on either Mondays from 1-4 and/or Tuesdays from 10-1. 

No experience is necessary - training will be provided. 

Student assistants will serve in the position of peer navigators, assisting other students and library patrons to find the help they need by working at a help desk in Ellis Library. 

Tasks include providing directions, technological assistance, basic research help, and referring patrons to librarians and staff that can assist further. 

Other duties include assistance with marketing through creating social media content and writing NewsHub posts in addition to projects assigned by the supervisor. 

Projects range from things like creating informative resources (workshops, podcasts, infographics) to usability testing. 

Desk shifts are in 3 hour blocks of time from 10-1, 1-4, 4-7, and 7-10 Sunday through Thursday. 

Applicants must be able to work at least one weekday shift from either 10-1 or 1-4, and at this time priority will go to applicants available Mondays from 1-4 and Tuesdays from 10-1.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Customer service experience
