Science Journalism Intern

Positions are open for spring and summer semesters for 2026 and will be filled on a rolling basis, so apply soon. Fall positions will be posted later this semester. 

 

MU’s Division of Research is hiring a science journalism intern, which will work 10-15 hours per week

  • The position will focus on a combination of story writing, content campaigns and marketing needs for the Division of Research. 
  • Stories range from writing about research publications to profiles highlighting the people and capabilities in Division of Research. 
  • Selected candidate will enterprise story ideas, take or obtain visuals for stories and write social media posts for each story. 
  • They work closely with RII communications staff to define and implement campaigns for social media and other marketing needs. 
  • Organization and ability to meet deadlines is necessary.

 

While writing skills are important, student workers often complete all aspects of a story package and campaign. Curiosity and interest in science or environmental journalism is highly valued. Stories post at bondlsc.missouri.edu/news. Student interns routinely consider this internship to be invaluable for their prospects after graduation and a substantial portfolio building experience.
