Construction Project Manager
JOB TITLE: Construction Project Manager – Chemical Process Manufacturing & Safety
Position Overview
The Construction Project Manager leads the planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects within chemical process manufacturing environments. This role manages all phases of project development — from design and procurement through construction, commissioning, and closeout — while ensuring strict adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate has strong experience with chemical processing systems, hazardous operations, and construction management within regulated industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Lead cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, and contractors.
- Coordinate sequencing, logistics, and material deliveries.
- Oversee installation of process equipment (reactors, tanks, pumps, piping, instrumentation).
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, API, and PSM standards.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and enforce site safety programs.
- Manage LOTO, hot work, confined space, and hazardous material protocols.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop cost estimates and track project spend.
- Manage procurement, vendor selection, and change orders.
- Monitor productivity and progress against budget.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Ensure QA/QC compliance for inspections, pressure tests, and equipment installation.
- Maintain project documentation including RFIs, permits, and reports.
- Support commissioning, punch lists, and turnover packages.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as liaison between contractors, engineering teams, and plant leadership.
- Lead progress meetings and communicate risks.
- Ensure smooth integration into plant operations.
Qualifications Required:
- 5–10+ years in chemical or industrial construction project management.
- Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing and process safety.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and P&IDs.;
- Strong skills in scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
Preferred:
- Degree or Project Management experience preferred in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Certifications: PMP, OSHA 30, CHST, CSP.
- Experience with Primavera, MS Project, or Procore.
