Project Engineer Intern – Civil Construction (Summer 2026)

Internship

Temporary/seasonal, with estimated start and end dates for summer.​

Location:  St Louis, MO   - ONSITE

Hours per week :  40

Schools: Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T)

Class levels: Rising sophomores through seniors

PCX, LLC is a civil contractor specializing in heavy civil and underground utility projects, including earthwork, structures, and concrete restoration. Our teams self-perform field work and leverage modern tools (HCSS, project management software) to deliver safe, productive jobs for public and private clients.

Position: Project Engineer Intern – Civil Construction (Summer 2026)
The Project Engineer Intern will support our project teams in the office and field, gaining exposure to estimating, planning, and day‑to‑day construction operations on active civil and utility projects. The intern will work under the guidance of a Project Manager or Project Engineer and will be paired with field supervision for jobsite learning. This aligns with typical civil engineering intern responsibilities such as site visits, documentation, and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities 

Assist with quantity takeoffs, plan review, and bid preparation for civil and utility projects.

Support project submittals, RFIs, and change order documentation.

Help track daily quantities, production, and cost data from the field.

Participate in site visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality.

Update project schedules and look‑ahead plans under supervision.

Assist with project documentation (photos, logs, meeting minutes, as‑built updates).

Coordinate with field supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers as directed.



Qualifications 

Currently pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field.

Completed at least freshman or sophomore year by Summer 2026.

Interest in heavy civil/utility construction and learning both office and field roles.

Strong attention to detail and willingness to work on active jobsites.

Familiarity with construction drawings and basic Excel; exposure to scheduling or estimating software is a plus.
 

Work Environment & Logistics

40 hours per week (typical), with potential occasional overtime depending on project needs.

Combination of office and field work; must be able to work outdoors in varying conditions and navigate active construction sites.

Internship runs approximately May–August 2026; actual dates flexible based on academic calendar.
