Mizzou 101 Peer Learning Assistant
Mizzou 101 is a first-year experience that helps first-semester students learn what it means to be Mizzou Tiger! The 2-credit hour course helps students build community, navigate resources, and grow personally and professionally.
Our Mizzou 101 instruction team is looking for high achieving students that are interested in mentoring first-semester students and collaborating with instructors to support and engage new Tigers through their experiences at Mizzou.
Peer Learning Assistants can expect to:
- Build communication, leadership, teamwork, professional development, critical thinking, and social adaptability skills by working with our Mizzou 101 instructors and Student Support Coordinator
- Build essential personal and professional skills such as communication,
leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking - Create strong relationships with staff and instructors to expand your professional network
- Positively contribute to first-year students’ connection to campus by providing your perspective of the college experience and encouraging the use of resources on campus
- Receive training to support their teaching skills to facilitate student engagement in the classroom
- Assist in classroom activities
We’re looking for students that:

Are passionate in supporting and engaging with other students - Have a desire to positively contribute to first-year student success
- Positively promote Mizzou and their experiences throughout their undergraduate degree program
- Have excellent communication skills
- Can consistently collaborate with others to achieve a goal
Exhibit a life-long learner mentality - Can commit to 2.5-3 hours a week in the Fall semester to attend the Mizzou 101 class discussions, and weekly meetings with their paired instructor and PLA cohort.
This is a paid position and pay will be hourly at $15/hr

TRiO, etc.)

either your major or student group if possible.
