Compensation Analyst

Job Overview

Exequity is looking for a smart, driven, and problem-solving oriented Compensation Analyst.  This critical role will support our senior consultants by providing qualitative and quantitative analyses, research, and report preparation around all areas of executive compensation. Key Responsibilities

  • Peer group definitions: utilize tools and proprietary models to determine appropriate public company peer groups for executive compensation comparisons.  Conduct analysis on different industries utilizing financial and market metrics to suggest appropriate peers for our clients based on their relative size, scope and performance
  • Competitive assessment: conduct compensation benchmarking analyses with data gathered from surveys or public filings.  This includes matching client roles to compensation survey sources, and conducting research of public company proxy statements, 8-ks and other disclosures to understand market pay levels for base salary, annual and long-term incentives, perquisites, and more
  • Incentive design and pay practices research: gather information on peer incentive design, pay practices, compensation committee charters, benefits and perquisites, and other compensation-related information from public filings to help in program design and peer benchmarking efforts
  • Perform financial modeling and statistical analyses: help analyze actual pay and performance relationships to test alignment, and help determine potential pay program changes to best fit with the business strategy of our clients, and ensure appropriate alignment with shareholders
  • Industry and regulatory research: stay abreast of news and developments in the industries our clients represent, in order to help us better serve their needs.  Understand how regulatory changes impact our analysis and incorporate with guidance from our senior consultants and partners
  • Draft client materials and assist in developing recommendations: help develop reports and presentations outlining our findings, analysis and resulting recommendations.  Learn how to draft presentation materials for an executive or board-level audience, and refine and distill complex messages and analysis in a compelling manner
  • Client interaction: attend meetings and calls with clients under the guidance of our senior consultants, to help determine client needs, understand client information, and present analysis.  Convey information to help clients understand the implications, and them think through appropriate solutions in concert with the Exequity project team

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, liberal arts or related fields.
  • No prior work experience required, but demonstrated growth and achievement academically (or professionally).  1-3 years of work experience in an analyst capacity a plus
  • Strong work ethic and internal drive
  • An intense curiosity and thirst for knowledge
  • Superior problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.  Working knowledge of financial statements a plus
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize/manage several projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.  Advanced skills (modeling, scripting, etc.) a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to learn and utilize technical software and tools.  Experience with S&P Capital IQ a plus

The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and comprehensive benefits including healthcare, retirement, insurance, paid holidays, and a highly flexible time-off policy.  Base pay offered varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
