Student Financial Aid Peer Advisor

The Mizzou Student Financial Aid Office is looking to hire outstanding students to join our Peer Advising Team with an April 2018 start date. (There is not a formal stop date for this job; many of our peer advisors work in our office until they graduate/multiple years and students who are looking for a year-round/long-term campus job are preferred.)  Pay Rate is $8.00 an hour.

Peer Advisors must be available to work Spring and Summer 2018, work during peak times - including all weeks in August - and two weeks before each fall/spring semester. (Early mornings, mid-mornings, lunch rush and Friday availability is a plus.)

Daily duties include:
- Answer inbound calls for the MU Student Financial Aid Office
- Answer questions regarding information provided on the MU Student Financial Aid website
- Provide seasonal Financial Aid information to parents and students
(Re: Due Dates, Priority Deadlines and completing MyZou "To Do List" Items)
- Provide students and parents with requested Financial Aid forms via email
- Check-in visiting students and families at front desk
- Gather information and take detailed phone messages
- Help other areas of the office with small projects (example: departmental mailings/data entry)
- Assist advisors with presentations and outreach projects
- Contact students via phone about missing checklist items
- Opportunities to participate in content for social media
- Individual projects as assigned

Students must have a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file to be considered for this position.

An ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is confident and enjoys working with the public; has strong verbal and written communication skills, a desire to help people, able to work well with various personalities and be patient. Mizzou SFA Peer Advisors need to be flexible, thoughtful and have a sense of humor.

Prior customer service experience in a fast-paced environment is a plus. On the job training will include online workshops on the basics of financial aid awarding, navigation in ImageNow and myZou and Microsoft Office (Outlook).
