Communications and Outreach Internships
Students will be able to impact the social media, traditional media, and coalition-building strategy for getting the word out about the campaign in tandem with the communications staff. Possibilities include researching policy topics of interest to the campaign, social media posts on relevant political issues, drafting communications with the press and with outside groups. There will be an emphasis on quality campaign writing and cultivating communications acumen in a fast-paced setting, and many opportunities to learn more about and impact the daily operations of a congressional campaign. The ability to take initiative, and to develop and execute projects and ideas on a short timeline, will be key.
Finance Internships
Students will work closely with the finance staff learning key parts of the operation. This position requires organizational skills, the ability to manage data and to assist the candidate and the campaign staff in building grassroots financial support needed to win in a tough district. There are also possible paid positions for finance staffers for any applicants with prior relevant experience.
Field Internships
Voter contact is a critical part of any successful campaign, and the Hoagenson campaign is seeking to build out and scale a grassroots voter contact operation that can boost turnout in Boone County and other key areas of the 4th District. Field Interns will be responsible for recruiting, retaining, and leading teams of energetic volunteers. No prior experience is necessary, but a desire to motivate and excite voters on important political issues is an absolute must. Campaign staff can train and prepare you for knocking on doors, calling voters throughout the district, and recruiting new volunteers for GOTV activities.
Possible paid staff positions
Applicants with prior office experience, management experience, and prior experience working or volunteering on a campaign should inquire about possible paid opportunities.
