Swim Instructor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructors work under the supervision of the Facility Managerial staff and perform the following:
· Teach classes in a manner prescribed by the Columbia Parks and Recreations Department guidelines.
· Demonstrate all levels of swim strokes as required by the Department.
· Teach classes as assigned by the Aquatic Facility Managerial staff.
· Assist in the administration of First Aid and water rescues when needed.
· Bend/stoop/twist/reach overhead to demonstrate swim strokes in and out of the water.
· Maintain all class records as prescribed by the Columbia Parks & Recreation Department.
· Maintain effective public relations.
· Assist with department wide special programs and events when needed.
· Maintain an appearance and demeanor that projects a positive, professional image.
· Some instructors may also work as lifeguards (if qualified).
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Applicants must be at least 17 years of age.
· Previous teaching experience preferred.
· Current First Aid and CPR (Adult & Infant/Child) certification.
· Ability to write legibly to prepare class notes/reports.
· Excellent customer service/customer relation skills.
· Purchase of specified uniform is required and following the established dress code is required.
· Must attend mandatory staff meetings.
