Missouri Student Unions Ambassador (Welcome Centers)

These positions are customer service centric. Unions Ambassadors are part of a team who represent the student spirit of the Unions serving as the initial contact point through various customer interaction mediums.
Unions Ambassadors are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the information desks, including but not limited to; assisting customers with questions pertaining to events, updating marketing signage, assist with laptop checkout, maintaining the appearance of desks and other functions necessary for the success of the Unions. Unions Ambassadors are on hand to offer guidance and information on University life and other community related information for our visitors.

Description Ambassadors will perform some or all of the duties listed below and may be assigned to work in one or more service areas or functions:
Provide excellent customer service to all Missouri Student Unions customers by assisting customers in confirming their reservations using the reservation system (EMS) and other service requests in various forms and maintaining accurate logs of checked out equipment (i.e. laptop computers, gaming equipment, etc.).
Receive training on Missouri Student Unions policies and procedures, event space, tenants, and specific details about offerings in both the MU Student Center and the Memorial Student Union.
Facilitate the lap-top check-out program and other receivable equipment, manage facility advertising opportunities when the IT Desk are gone for the evening.
Serve as a pulse point for communication with administration, full-time support staff and other student staff regarding concerns, suggestions, and problems involving the day-to-day operations of the Missouri Student Unions.

Additional Responsibilities
Receive training on a wide variety of MU programs and offerings and appropriate delivery methods.
Attend and participate in periodic staff meetings and all training sessions scheduled by the department.
Participate in special projects to improve or expand the services offered by the Unions. Represent the Unions at conferences and other special events held in the Unions as assigned.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve the customer and maintain the Student Affairs mission.

Physical Requirements
Position requires sitting, standing, and walking.
Must be able to bend, squat, and reach on occasion.
Capable of lifting, moving, and transporting materials on occasion.
Duties imply the use of a computer and other office technology involving fine finger movements.
Communicate orally and in writing with various audiences.
Qualifications
To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required as long as the student was enrolled in the spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the fall semester.
Possess a positive and friendly disposition, flexibility, and good communication skills.
Flexible scheduling options (mornings, nights, weekends, and breaks/holidays). **Must be willing to return to campus a week before courses begin for mandatory Ambassador Training**
Additional Qualifications
The applicant should have exceptional communication skills, with an outgoing personality and ability to greet strangers, excitement for public speaking, passion for involvement and enthusiasm for Mizzou, strong organizational skills, good time-management skills, reliability, a sense of commitment to the work place, and the ability to work with a variety of people.
Prior customer service and software experience is helpful.
Be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week on a regular basis.
Demonstrated ability to professionally and articulately communicate in writing.
Ability to perform precise data entry and familiarity with databases, spreadsheets, word-processing, etc.
