The College of Engineering is accepting applications from engineering students to serve as Student Camp Directors for the college’s very first Camp COE, August 23-25, 2019. Camp Directors will take real ownership over camp programming and logistics to create a memorable, meaningful, and safe camp experience for our incoming engineering students of all academic levels. This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate effective leadership, communication, business, and organizational skills.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
·       Serve as a mentor to incoming students of all academic levels
·       Manage the hiring process of Camp Counselors
·       Work with and supervise Camp Counselors in a supportive manner
·       Collaborate with Camp Counselors to provide a fun, safe, memorable, and high-quality camping experience for incoming engineering students.
·       Assign Camp Counselors to specific tasks, assist with setting priorities, and ensure there are clear expectations prior to camp
·       Develop, coordinate, and conduct Camp Counselor trainings
·       Present at college events and meetings, including Summer Welcome
·       Assist and plan daily camp schedule and activities
·       Maintain camp’s budget
·       Coordinate and create marketing materials
·       Develop and assemble camp materials
·       Be familiar with and follow emergency and safety procedures with Camp Counselors and campers
·       Manage camp registration process and camp check-in
·       Greet campers upon arrival and orientate them to camp

Minimum Qualifications
·       The Student Camp Director must be an engineering student at MU and able to work Spring, Summer and Fall 2019.

·       In good academic standing at MU (undergraduate 2.0/graduate 3.0)

·       Intermediate or advanced proficiency with all Microsoft Office Programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
·       Intermediate or advanced proficiency with Outlook, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
·       Camp experience or an appreciation for camping and nature

Requirements
·       CPR/First Aid Certified or willing to become certified before the camp
·       Physical activity at the camp will include, but not limited to, stooping, balancing, standing, walking, lifting, and hearing
·       Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
·       Camp will be primarily an outdoor environment with exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, and water.

This is a part-time student position, which requires 15-20 hours a week in the College of Engineering, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. We anticipate the position to begin in February 2019. Camp Directors must be able to work the entire week of August 19-25, 2019. 

Pay rate: $10-$15 per hour
