Part-time Student Technical Assistant

Duties include:
 
·        Assist in the lab with soil, plant, water, compost and manure testing
·        Unpacking and logging in samples and preparing samples for analysis (grinding soil and plant samples)
·        General lab technical tasks: weighing samples, using lab equipment
·        Computer data entry
·        Lab clean-up tasks: soil clean up, cleaning of lab glassware
 
Skills/qualities needed:
 
Some lab experience, positive attitude, quick and willing learn new procedures (will train on how to use lab equipment), pay attention to details, reliable, efficient, and an ability to work with others. Prefer undergraduate students majoring in Plant Sciences with emphasis in Agronomy, Horticulture, Entomology, Plant Pathology or Soil and Atmospheric Sciences with emphasis on Soils and Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Fishery and Wild Life or Animal Science. However, all majors will be considered.
 
Hours:
 
This is to meet the excess work load during the rush time. Will have 10 to 20 hours per week depending on times available. During the semester breaks it will be 20 to 30 hours per week. Preference will be given to students who have some time slots available to work in the mornings (7:30 am to 11:30 am) and afternoons (1:00 pm to 4:30 pm).This position is temporary with the good possibility of being extended depending on job performance.
