Origination Trainee
Job Summary
This job is primarily responsible for learning the different roles within the grain business and how they interact with one another with the goal to assume a regular role within the origination area. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, immediate decision making, building and maintaining customer relationships via phone and in person, and analyzing industry information to make profitable decisions for customers.

- Determine customer requirements and communicate market changes, company products and services to customers.
- Issue and complete cash contracts and grower agreements, execute contracts and agreements.
- Stay abreast of current market environment and communicate those to customers.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships, call producers to discuss grain marketing options.
- Originate grain to drive profitability and increase sales, establish rapport with existing customers while increasing customer base.
- Maintain accurate records, including daily position record and grain related records.
- Perform market research to determine available bushels.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
Required - Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Agriculture or Business.
Experience
Required – None.
Preferred - Customer service related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of key economic drivers of a successful grain business.
- General understanding of sales.
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
- Intermediate computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent public relation skills and phone etiquette.
- Intuitive thinking capabilities, interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Ability to reach, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand.
- Ability to determine and define problems, collect data and establish facts to draw valid and logical conclusions.
