Student Journalist: Innovation Lab at RJI

Duration of hire: Fall semester (with possible extension into spring if the fit is a good one and you want to continue with us)
 
Description of position: Producing 2-3 Innovation in Focus pieces each month using and about a specific storytelling tool, method or technology as part of our Innovation in Focus series. Interviewing journalists in newsrooms all over the country about new storytelling methods, technology and relevant issues. Assisting our professional fellows with their projects - whether it's creating social media promotions, cleaning up data, creating videos or editing audio.

Hours per a week: 10-20 / no more than 20 with flexible hours/schedule each week
 
Paid or Unpaid: Paid - you will fill out a timesheet each week to log your hours and your pay depends on your year at Mizzou.

Requirements: Knowledge of and enthusiasm for journalism storytelling, willingness to try new technologies, tools and ideas that are being explored in the journalism industry. Ability to work independently without constant oversight, meet weekly deadlines and solve problems while in the field. You will be producing content at a professional level, so if you are not a junior/senior or graduate student then this position may be challenging. Students with a visual skills background in photo, video, doc and graphics are preferred but open to all skillsets. If you are bi-lingual, spanish is a plus!
