Marketing/Communications Intern
Chancellor’s Military & Veterans Standing Committee

The Chancellor’s Military & Veterans Standing Committee is seeking a self-motivated and disciplined marketing/communications intern to assist the committee in achieving its goal of enhancing student success among veterans and military students and their family members who call Mizzou home.
 
Position is open to an undergraduate or graduate student (military experience preferred but not required) who can commit to 10 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.

A sample of some required projects:
·        Newsgathering and writing about constituent groups including the MU Student Veterans Resource & Support Center, Mizzou Student Veterans Association, Mizzou Military Veterans Alumni Association, MU Law Veterans Clinic, Mizzou faculty and staff, and collaboration with campus and external stakeholders including Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Also, provides communication support for the Standing Committee.
·        Drafting short briefs for a regular emailed bulletin.
·        Drafting short social media posts, in conjunction with marketing and communications.
·        Posting information on the web sites associated with the military and veterans issues.

The successful candidate will possess the following Knowledge, skills, and abilities.
·        Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
·        Ability to work in a high-energy work environment and interfacing with team members who have multiple responsibilities.
·        Some knowledge of communications channels.
·        Understanding of basic communications strategies.
·        Ability to lead discussions and develop key messages to achieve desired outcomes.
·        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
 
Director, MU Student Veterans Resource & Support Center, and Chief of Staff, Office of the Chancellor supervise the intern. Intern also maintains close relationship with Marketing and Communications team.

The intern’s workspace will be primarily in MU News Bureau with some time at the MU Student Veterans Resource & Support Center.

Compensation: This is a paid internship.
