National Life Group currently has an opening for a Tax Accountant who will have the opportunity to join a group that is creating the tax and finance function of the future. We are using data analytics to automate our processes, so we can spend our time finding ways to add additional value to the organization. We are looking for a strong candidate with accounting, tax, and data skills to help further our initiative. 

The Tax Accountant will touch all aspects of the corporate tax function including tax compliance, tax accounting, and process improvements driven by data analysis. The position offers a great opportunity to gain broad tax, finance, and industry experience at a growing organization. 

Key Responsibilities:
-         Delivering a high level of service to all client relationships. This includes managing deadlines and deliverables with accuracy, providing ad hoc tax analysis, and assisting with company initiatives.
-         Preparing compliance filings for income taxes.
-         Preparing accounting for income taxes per GAAP ASC 740 and NAIC SSAP 101.
-         Assisting with forecasting and projecting income taxes.
-         Assessing and implementing process improvements to drive efficiency.
-         Advocate for and participate in furthering our powerful corporate culture 

Additional Requirements:
-         Ambitious, intellectually curious, and able to understand complex tax and business situations
-         Data analysis experience and ability to learn new technology
-         Strong people and collaboration skills
-         Technical experience and knowledge in taxation of corporations, partnerships, and state taxes
-         Technical experience with accounting and reporting for income taxes
-         Strong written and verbal communication skills
-         Experience managing several simultaneous projects, competing priorities, and driving execution

Experience, Education & Credentials:
-         CPA license or 150 credit hours completed with plans to pass the exam
-         1 to 3 years of tax experience
-         Insurance industry experience preferred
-         Big 4 accounting experience preferred
-         Bachelor’s in accounting or finance, Master’s Degree preferred but not required
