Job Description

  • Position Summary: Join the fast-paced, high-energy Corporate Communications team at Cboe in our mission to define markets through communications that promote Cboe products, technology, services, policies corporate efforts and associates. You will have an opportunity to participate in all department functions, from planning, writing and editing to execution and analysis.
  • Responsibilities include news monitoring; producing daily/monthly news summaries; managing content by editing, disseminating and posting materials; social media content generation; coordinating occasional special events; assisting with live television broadcasts and providing administrative support to the department. We are a passionate, dedicated and hard-working team seeking an energetic individual looking to own and grow this role. Position is based in Cboe Global Markets’ corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use variety of media monitoring tools to prepare daily news clips summary disseminated to all global associates each morning. Utilize media metrics platform to help prepare monthly and quarterly reports on company news coverage, providing analysis and commentary on the numbers. Proactively monitor print, broadcast and social media daily, notifying team members of any potential media stories/issues.
  • Maintain and update department calendars, contacts, information and statistics, shared electronic files, online passwords and other key group reference materials. Fulfill general administrative tasks, such as interview transcriptions, organizing newspapers and magazines, billing, filing, subscriptions, mail and scheduling meetings.
  • Assist with social media efforts, designing, writing and issuing social posts in a regular schedule and on an ad-hoc basis. Monitor social media for company, industry and influencer news.
  • Coordinate the staging of occasional special events, such as bell ringings, shareholder meetings and other events hosted at the exchange. Coordinate all event logistics, liaise with all company departments involved in event and assist Directors with media coverage.
  • Proof a variety of communications materials, including press releases, presentations, speeches, newsletters, online content, social posts and other materials. Disseminate communications internally and externally, including the distribution of press releases and updates to the Cboe website.
  • Assist the team with company’s regular live broadcasts from the trading floor with finance news channels. Operate camera equipment during live broadcast (will be trained).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Accuracy and attention to detail are critical, a skilled communicator and adept editor.
  • Familiarity with emerging communication platforms and willingness to embrace new technologies.
  • Interest in media landscape. A news junkie that consumes the headlines daily. 
  • Experience in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Photoshop (or InDesign) required. Familiarity with platforms such as PR Newswire, Cision or other media monitoring tools, Atlassian (Jira), Workday and SharePoint a plus, as is using/publishing to content management systems.
  • Ability to:
  • Create clearly written, organized documents and correspondence; evaluate documents and self-proofread/edit for structure, clarity, syntax, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks and work assignments; complete multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and quality; adjust to changes in priorities and situations; complete work under pressure; meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and own an assignment from start to finish.

  • Experience:
  • Required

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in journalism, corporate communications, public relations or related field. 
  • Experience writing/editing corporate communications or marketing materials.
  • Preferred

  • Understanding of financial industry, media landscape and social media.
  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English or related fields.
