Program Assistants (Summer Academic Day Programs)

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth has exciting summer employment opportunities for undergraduates and grads who enjoy working with children.

For decades, CTY summer programs have provided a fun and enriching experience for the most academically advanced elementary, middle, and high school in the world.

Working with CTY in the summer can provide a great opportunity to work with dedicated colleagues, diverse professional staff members, engaged students, and ample resources. Positions are available at day sites on the East and West coasts, and in Hong Kong.

Program assistants (PAs) are responsible for student supervision both inside and outside the CTY classroom. PAs also plan and lead all afternoon activities. Although certain duties are typical, tasks and responsibilities can and do change according to each day’s needs and may vary slightly. Specific tasks and responsibilities in the classroom might include assisting with instructional preparation, aiding the instructor with classroom management, taking notes about student performance, tutoring students, helping with clerical tasks such as typing and photocopying, and generally helping to ensure that the class runs smoothly. PAs are the primary staff members responsible for supervising students during lunch, breaks, and afternoon activities. As part of their supervisory duties, PAs assist with morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
