Analyst, Market Intelligence

General Responsibilities:
The Analyst, Market Intelligence will work with various departments within NCBA to provide current, economic-based insights related to retail and foodservice channel activity, with focus on beef and competitive proteins. This person will serve as the go to resource for beef economic/sales information and related implications to NCBA programs, state beef councils, retail/foodservice operators and other industry stakeholders. Responsibilities will be executed in accordance with the beef industry’s Long-Range Plan and NCBA’s Strategic Plan.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
· Serve as lead resource for beef pricing, supply/demand factors and market performance to checkoff program areas, state beef councils and other industry stakeholders.
· Monitor current market conditions and economic factors impacting beef demand and the business climate for retail and foodservice operations.
· Manage, analyze and report on IRI retail sales, featuring and other data.
· Manage, analyze and report on foodservice activity, menu trends and other data.
· Analyze and effectively summarize/present data insights and implications to NCBA staff, state beef councils and external audiences across the beef supply chain.
· Mine available syndicated resources, news feeds and market research insights for added context to retail and foodservice data.
· Collaborate with NCBA staff to leverage insights that highlight beef’s value proposition across the beef supply chain.
 
General Responsibilities
· Manage and execute activities and budgets relating to specific tactics and performance measures assigned to this position.
· Manage contracts with data vendors; assure work adheres to contracts, budget is properly managed, and plans are completed as scheduled.
· Participate at selected conventions, conferences and other meetings throughout the year presenting relevant channel intelligence insights.
 
Qualifications and Key Skills:
The ideal candidate for this position will possess:
· A bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Business or related field
· 5-7 years related experience preferred
· Thorough understanding of economic and market factors impacting supply and demand
· High level of professionalism, trustworthiness, dependability and motivation
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Experience in managing subcontractors and/or consultants
· Strong ability to organize and lead productive meetings
· Advanced computer proficiency including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint
· Strong working knowledge analyzing large data sets using Excel, pivot tables or related software
 
Travel Requirements:
· Overnight travel is required for this position
· Travel will vary from 10% to 20%
· May require travel and/or work on weekends
