2020 Graduate Summer Internship

The Congressional Budget Office provides the U.S. Congress with the objective, timely, and nonpartisan analyses needed for economic and budgetary decisions. CBO will accept applications from graduate students for its 2020 Summer Internship Program between January 6 and February 28, 2020. Interns contribute to CBO’s work in areas such as budget and tax policy, health care, national defense, the environment, education, retirement assistance, other income assistance, regulation, and public investment.

CBO internships offer:
•Ten weeks of experience in the federal budget process and policymaking,
•Responsibility for specific projects,
•The opportunity to work with experts in economic analysis,
•Flexible start and end dates,
•The opportunity to participate in educational events on Capitol Hill,
•The dynamic environment of one of the world’s premier cities,
•Competitive compensation based on academic level and related experience, and
•A local transportation subsidy of up to $265 per month.
Candidates should have some preparation in disciplines related to CBO’s mission. Ideal candidates are in graduate academic programs in the following fields:
•Economics
•Health policy
•Mathematics
•Public policy/public affairs•Finance•Statistics
