Finance Intern

Job: Finance Intern for Simmons for Missouri 2020 MO-04 Campaign

Job Type: Internship

Location: Columbia, Missouri

Desired Start Date:

Simmons For Missouri 2020 Mission: Lindsey Simmons is a seventh-generation Missourian, running as a proud rural Democrat in Missouri’s Fourth District. Although the district sits at +17 R, it is a historically Democratic district-only turning Republican in the Tea Party wave of 2010. The incumbent, Vicky Hartzler, has been labeled one of the most anti-LGBTQ+ legislators in all of Congress, a position she strengthened by authoring the trans military ban. Rep. Hartzler has dabbled in birtherism, denied climate change, rejected the science of evolution, and promoted conversion therapy. Meanwhile, she has taken in $1.1M in farm subsidies while cutting food stamps to children-and hasn’t held a public town hall in nearly 5 years.

These are not the values of Missouri’s Fourth District. This is not how neighbors treat each other. Lindsey is a mother, Army wife, and a graduate of Harvard Law School. During her husband’s last development she stood up for veterans, helped flood and hurricane victims access FEMA relief funds, and fought for her client—an innocent man who walked free after spending 25 unjust years in prison. As an attorney, she knows there’s nothing more important than standing up for people who have been silenced. This grassroots campaign is 100% people funded-we aren’t taking a dime of corporate PAC money. We’re fighting for affordable healthcare, the end of a trade war that harms family farmers, safe schools, affordable higher education, properly funding our soldiers and not defense contractors, transparency in political campaigns and in government spending and environmentally sound policy that creates jobs while maintaining the health of our fields, rivers, and lakes.
