Receive incoming donations and sort donations to keep inventory organized. Take unusable donations to other agencies or the landfill. Call clients in to “shop” for free or deliver donations to clients. Report all incoming donations and distributed donations to office manager. Optional: Keep an inventory of donations; Schedule furniture donation pickups and assist staff with pickups; Direct volunteer groups to sort donations.

REQUIREMENTS- Students must complete the orientation and training requirements outlined below. Must be organized, friendly, flexible, self-starting, and able to solve problems and think critically. Experience working with non-English speakers preferred but not required.

ORIENTATION - An initial interview will be scheduled after the student submits an application to determine if both the Volunteer Coordinator and the student believe it is a good placement. The student will then attend a 1.5-hour orientation about refugee resettlement and our office and services, complete the necessary paperwork, and set up a schedule. As a volunteer of Catholic Charities, the volunteer must complete a 1.5-hr VIRTUS training online.
