Washington, D.C.
In my Washington, D.C. office, internships run throughout the fall, spring and summer terms where students will gain invaluable work experience. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally are 9 AM to 5 PM.
In Washington, interns' responsibilities will vary depending on the Congressional schedule, but may include conducting U.S. Capitol tours for constituents visiting D.C., helping answer phones and responding to constituent requests, attending Congressional committee hearings, legislative research and communications work. Candidates should be motivated and have a desire to learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a Congressional office. Each intern will also be provided an opportunity to speak directly with the Member. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills required. Indiana ties a plus, but not required.
