Payroll Officer
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, as the Payroll Officer, you will be the expert in processing Bi-weekly payroll for both U.S. and Canada. You will be part of a dynamic team who provides support in all areas of payroll. Other duties will include:
- Remit tax payments and assist with tax filings
- Managing and processing of union payments
- Process on demand payments
- Assist with reconciliation questions and researching of payroll GL accounts
- Communicate via phone, email or in writing with employees, benefits specialist, human resources, managers, banks, credit merchants and state or federal agencies
- Prepare and assist with running and distributing monthly reports
- Review and understand all company policies with respect to those polices that may govern the assigned payroll responsibilities
- Perform planning primarily around individual workload in order to meet deadlines for department and business objectives
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 2 - 3 years payroll processing experience is required.
- Associates degree in accounting is strongly preferred. Progressive work experience in similar role may be considered in lieu of education.
- Prefer working knowledge of unions and relevant laws/regulations governing payroll, benefits and payroll taxes in US and Canada.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- Previous payroll experience in a large (2000+) complex organization strongly preferred.
- Experience with SAP, ADP, Workday, or Oracle is helpful.
- The Payroll Officer must be able to multitask and have a high level of expertise in Excel and advanced computer knowledge.
