Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Clin. Ops. /R&D department located at our Fulton (MRC) Missouri Research Center.  As an Intern, you will. The intern will report to the team leader (Don Lawrence) provide daily care and socialization of a variety of animal species to ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations. Assists in animal procedures such as phys. Exams of newly received animals, restraint, and sample or data collection in accordance with GLP/GCP guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the routine husbandry and care of research animals including feeding, handling, cage and/or pen sanitation and socialization.  
  • Assist with trial necropsy procedures and animal dispositions.
  • Monitors supply and equipment needs and coordinates acquisition with team leader.
  • Familiar with study protocols of all research being done on site. Records study data in compliance with GLP/GCP guidelines
  • Ispects animal housing areas for sanitation, proper operation of mechanical equipment and condition of the enclosers to ensure compliance with federal, state and BI guidelines and corrects deficiencies when discovered. 
Requirements:
Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.
Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
Major must be related to the field of internship.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  • BS degree or equivalent training (1-3 years of experience)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks & projects.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work in a standing position for  extended duration (~ 2 hrs.) with periodic breaks.   
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
