Management Associate Program- Hospital Finance and Operations Associate

The Associate, Financial and Operations Management position is part of a two-year program called the Management Associate Program(MAP). This program follows a prescriptive path where each employee learns the general principles of healthcare management. The core concepts of finance, operations, project management, analytics, and general management skills will be taught through didactic training as well as “on the job” project work. 
After the first year, upon the successful demonstration of skills and competencies, Associates are promoted to a Senior Associate of Financial and Operations Management. At the conclusion of the second year, the Senior Associate will graduate from the program and will be positioned for a new opportunity within Northwell.
Role Responsibilities 
Defines, implements and evaluates special projects that support financial & operational goals of the hospital. As a member of the training program, partners with hospital and departmental leadership to identify and assess opportunities for improvement. Conducts business initiative analysis; monitors status of initiatives and projects; makes recommendations for improvements.
1. Under the mentorship of assigned hospital and department leadership, participates in strategic, operational and administrative development to support goal attainment.
2. Partners with management to define project scope, goals, objectives, and timeline. Assists with project design and implementation.
  • Collaborates with management to develop tools and metrics to evaluate performance of target initiatives.
  • Provides data management support. Collects data for review and analysis. Prepares comparative analysis reports including trending and improvement recommendations for review by senior leadership.
  • Produces comprehensive executive summaries and reports. Presents data in effective, clear formats tailored to the needs of specific audiences including managers and staff.
3.Coordinates, evaluates and implements programs that support operational goals. Works with management, analyzes processes and assists in developing recommendations and solutions through best practices
4. Assists in business strategy development. Aides in the execution of strategies approved by Senior Management; as required provides strategic insight and decision support.
5.Researches and benchmarks best practice models to improve financial and operational efficiencies. Analyzes complex processes and assists in developing recommendations and solutions through best practices
6.Prepares analytical assessments and provides recommendations.
  • Collaborates with management to collect financial, statistical and operational data for analysis.
  • Validates and organizes data to evaluate and/or communicate operational processes.
  • Prepares operational analysis, flow charts, presentations and reports, as required by project specifications.
  • Evaluates analyses, identifies best practices, deficiencies, and makes recommendations for improvements in operational processes, policies and procedures.
  • Provides scheduled project status reports for leadership team.
7.           Performs related duties, as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance or related field, required. 
  • Minimum one (1) year related work experience or internship experience, required. Experience in healthcare industry, preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organization and customer service skills, required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, required.
