Internship Title: Administration Associate

Start Date/End Date: May 25 through August 7. (Dates are flexible)
Desired Majors and or fields of study:  Business Admin, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations.

Special Requirements: Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, general interest in community development and city administration, willingness to work in a team environment, flexibility, desire to work on varying projects, and ability to be creative and unique.  
Detailed Job Description: The Summer program offers an up to 11-week paid internship opportunity with the City of Williston Administration office in Williston, ND. The internship program is a combination of mentoring, learning activities, and project work designed to give a broad exposure to the inner workings of city administration. The assignment will consist of developing a strategic plan for the City, which will serve as the roadmap to help prioritize initiatives, set goals, and department operations and projects, while providing a practical and challenging business experience. 
Within the first week of the internship, the intern will identify with the City Administrator the details on the strategic planning project to complete over the term of the internship. This project will be tailored to the intern’s background field of study. 
Experiences will include but not limited to:
  • Define mission and vision for the City
  • Develop core values
  • Determine strengths, weaknesses, opportunities; Analyze external factors
  • Outline goals and a course of action
  • Define long-term, medium term, and short-term strategies
  • Other

Learning Outcomes –
  •  By the close of the internship the student will increase their general understanding/skills in the following:
·        Business administration and development
·        Community outreach activities
·        Community relations
·        Local and state politics pertaining to business development

Compensation The internship will consist of __40__ hours per week and the compensation shall be _$18.00_____ per hour.  
Note: The hours per week can be flexible and tailored towards the intern. We want to see our interns have a great experience.
