Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to provide expert assistance to all types of small businesses, including both startups and existing businesses. Assistance is provided through one-on-one consultations and classroom instruction

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

40% Consult with small businesses, assist with business plan development, direct an action plan for their business, conduct follow-up and track economic impact.

15% Perform continuing research through various sources to maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, changes, and new tools (sources of capital, financial analysis, marketing, management and other related areas critical to the delivery of services to clients).

10%Collect and submit all required SBA and PSCC reporting as directed by the TSBDC Director.

20% Direct and teach classroom instruction

Develop and teach various business educational material including but not limited to marketing, business formation, business planning, tax planning, cyber security, web based social media, export and banking initiatives.

5% Advise and counsel the Director on the needs of the Tennessee small business community and assist in accomplishing the mission of the TSBDC within the office's area of responsibility

5% Assist in the delivery of services at the satellite offices based in Blount and Farragut Chambers.

5% Develop and manage relationships with financial institutions, local, state and federal personnel, resource partners, and chamber personnel.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in business discipline from an accredited institution, ability to become certified by lead center within six months of hire date, certification in entrepreneurial training programs
• 4+ years' experience in one of the following:

Business ownership, senior business management role, senior credit officer

Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience.

Scope of Responsibility:

Individuals filling this position must have an understanding of the basic skills of management, marketing, finance and accounting. A Small Business Specialist must have the skills and knowledge to work with new business startups and pre-venture clients.

Pay Rate: $43,990 - $54,450.00/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.
