Fall 2020 Entomology Intern

The Entomology internship involves hands on work with all non-venomous invertebrates and other animals at the Butterfly House. Interns will help maintain the animal collection and process shipments of butterflies from around the world. This will include feeding, tank cleaning and when needed tank set-up. Interns may be required to spend time doing hands on demonstrations with education animals after completing animal handling training.  Interns will be responsible for following all USDA/APHIS requirements and animal record guidelines. Interns will have direct interaction with the public and should be capable of answering questions about the butterflies and animals at the Butterfly House. They must also be willing to help educate the public about animals and their interactions with the natural world.
Qualifications:
Background in natural sciences or conservation is required, with entomology, biology, animal science, conservation, zoology being preferred but not required. At least Freshman in college, though recent high school graduates may be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Requirements:
140 total hours per semester, approximately 10-15 hours per week. 2.5 cumulative GPA
