INTERN PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

PIC’s Production/Genetic Improvement Internship Program provides a hands-on, real life experience within a genetic nucleus pig production facility. You will also be able to discover potential long-term career opportunities within a global swine genetics company. You will participate in an 8-12 week program designed to focus on one specific area of genetic swine production but will provide exposure to all areas of production throughout the internship. Those areas of production include: Breeding and Gestation, Farrowing, Nursery and finishing, Performance testing and selection and boar stud. The skills acquired during this internship will provide a baseline of knowledge to build upon in the future.

We encourage all students who are interested in pursuing a swine industry career to apply. Candidates should be able to work in a modern swine facility, be a good team member, and be accountable for daily tasks. Previous swine production experience is preferred but NOT necessary.
