The vision of the South Dakota Department of Health is "Every South Dakotan Healthy and Strong". Our staff are key to our success and make the Department a great place to work. The Director of Finance is part of the Department's Executive Management Team and oversees all financial and budget operations (+$100 million/year) of the Department. This division has 14 team members and provides fiscal support to the rest of the department, including the management of state funds and federal grants and monitoring for compliance with state and federal financial regulations.

This position is located in Pierre, South Dakota and reports directly to the Secretary of Health. The Director of Finance is part of the Department's legislative task force and represents the Department on select statewide initiatives. The successful candidate will find public service challenging and rewarding.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act. 

A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or related field is required. A master's degree is preferred.
