Underwriting Technician (Auto)

SUMMARY: 
Assists the underwriters in processing applications, and makes changes to existing policies. Work is routine with close supervision. Duties and tasks are standardized. Processes mail and enters basic information in the computer. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  
·        Corrects and updates information on existing policies, reinstates policies.
·        Perform any computer conversion related work.
·        Process cancellations and membership kick outs.
·        Runs MVR’s.
·        Processes changes prescribed by the underwriting or field staff, including but not limited to: various endorsements, coverages, membership changes, transfers, add/delete various discounts, and other routine changes.
·        Handles correspondence and phone calls from field staff and clients regarding policy inquires and performs the proper follow-up work.
·        Assists supervisor and underwriters on problem policies and other policies that require special attention.
·        Provides excellent customer service to all external and internal customers and maintains a good working relationship with field and Home Office personnel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 
High School graduate or General Education Degree (GED), and a minimum one year of general office experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
·        Bilingual (Spanish) capabilities is an asset but not required.
·        Ability to operate a personal computer and standard office equipment.
·        Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
·        Ability and willingness to learn new procedures and accept additional duties.
·        Ability to handle a variety of assignments with accuracy.
