DSP – Weekend Relief

The IDEAL CANDIDATE:

An outgoing, positive person who will be passionately committed to providing supports to individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will be motivated, attentive to detail and a great problem solver. Must get excited about helping others succeed. Additionally, this a DSP in this position must be willing and able to work through the weekends.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify for employment with Woodhaven, an applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be over the age of 18, have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to obtain a Class E Chauffeur’s License, and of course be legally allowed to work in the United States.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/DUTIES:

The Direct Support Professional will be required to successfully complete an initial orientation. This will include learning American Heart Association CPR, First Aid, Abuse & Neglect, Certified Medication Administration, Positive Behavior Interventions, Universal Precautions in-service, lifting in-service, and other lectures on basic information regarding State and Federal law relevant to the organization’s policies, procedures, rules and regulations. You will be required to update these in-services annually or as notified. Attending and passing these classes is essential to your success as a Direct Support Professional. Additionally, a valid Missouri Chauffeur’s license MUST be obtained within the first two (2) weeks of employment for this position.
Employees working a weekend relief position will earn incentive compensation for working a 16 hour shift with eight hours unpaid sleep time in a 24 hour period. Employees must sleep in a designated area on the premises. This incentive will be lost if employee transfers to another position. If it is necessary for employee to be awake during sleep hours, they will be paid at their regular rate or at overtime rate if it applies. Should the employee feel it necessary to be awake during normal sleep time for more than one hour, he/she must contact the Home Coordinator for further instructions. If after contacting the Home Coordinator, the employee cannot get five hours of sleep in the eight hours, he/she will be paid for the full eight hours at their regular rate of pay.
