Senior Health Policy Strategist

Senior Health Policy Strategist
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Health Policy, the Senior Health Policy Strategist works across the organization to identify and execute opportunities to use policy as a changemaking tool, helping MFH and the broader field understand how individual and community health are impacted by various circumstances, programs, and policies. The Senior Health Policy Strategist researches and uses existing data to analyze and organize information relevant to current issues in health policy for use throughout MFH.
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of health policy issues that affect the health and well-being of Missourians, as well as national policy trends that impact the Foundation’s service region. Use that knowledge to identify opportunities for the Foundation to drive or contribute to systems-level change at the local, state, and federal levels.
  •  Serve as an expert consultant to internal teams on policy-related issues, and act as the organizational lead for determining appropriateness of policy-related projects that are pitched to the Foundation.
  • Proactively determine where investments in policy analysis could help move Foundation strategy forward and develop projects and plans that actualize those opportunities, including identifying and managing partners and contractors
Other Duties
  • Participates in team activities and completes diverse assignments in support of team goals.
  • Performs general Foundation support activities and carries out special projects as required.
  • Adheres to the Foundation’s core and staff values.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Master’s degree in health policy, public health, or a related field.
Experience: Five years of professional experience, including a deep understanding of key issues in health policy (e.g., health care financing and delivery; Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance coverage; policy development) and experience researching and analyzing various topics and effectively communicating findings.
