What does an IT Audit Intern do?

  • Participates in a variety of challenging assignments, similar to those handled by full-time Audit Division staff.
  • Participates on audits of the Bank’s information technology and/or operations including, but not limited to:
  • Assisting with and provides technical support for assurance reviews of the Bank’s automated systems;
  • Analyzing data and business processes to evaluate and verify compliance with established policies and procedures; and
  • Determining if internal controls and processes are effectively designed and implemented.
  • Conducts diverse projects within the Audit Division to contribute to achievement of Division objectives and/or support ongoing audit attentions.
  • Serves as a “risk consultant” or advisor to audit clients by identifying technology control weaknesses or opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business operations.

What skills and experience do IT Audit Interns need?
  • Undergraduate or graduate students within two years of graduation.
  • Maintain independence and objectivity when working with audit clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Initiative and leadership skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Foundational knowledge of generally accepted auditing techniques and broad understanding of technology fields such as environmental and operating systems, information security, and/or project management preferred.
