InvesTech Associate Program - Boston, Class of 2021

Program Overview
Wellington Management is seeking individuals to be part of the new, global InvesTech Associate Program in the Investment Services & Technology department. As an InvesTech Associate, you will develop the foundation to become successful in a career in financial operations and technology.
We expect new Associates to join the program in July 2021. During your first two weeks with us, you will be assimilated into the firm through our Base Camp Development Program. This global program is designed to equip you with new skills and knowledge of our clients, industry, firm, and culture while developing a strong, global internal network that will set you up for a successful transition into the firm. By investing in your personal growth on day one, you will help us continue to exceed our client’s expectations. After the two weeks, InvesTech Associates will receive training and skill building opportunities to develop expertise in the processes and technology that drive asset management, portfolio analysis, funds, and client engagement.
Program Roles
TECHNOLOGY TRACK
This group is responsible for designing, building, testing, and supporting our robust technology suite. As an Associate in the technology track, you will start in one of three potential roles: Systems Analyst, Software Engineer, or Quality Assurance Analyst.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Systems Analyst
· Engage with business users such as investors, traders, or client relations to assess needs, understand workflows, and propose solutions
· Create functional specifications and user requirement documents that outline enhancements, defect fixes, and integrate with existing system architecture
· Partner with development teams to build solutions and participate in testing efforts
· Ensure user acceptance by leading training sessions and gathering continuous feedback
Software Engineer
· Build application functionality, leveraging implementation patterns and open source solutions where appropriate
· Work closely with business users and analysts to review strategic business solutions
· Determine impact to servers, network and storage capacity, and throughput in conjunction with infrastructure delivery teams
Quality Assurance Analyst
· Collaborate with Systems Analysts to define test strategy, detailed test plans, and use and test cases
· Ensure requirements traceability throughout the systems development lifecycle
· Understand QA processes and systems development lifecycle methodologies
· Leverage various testing approaches and work closely with engineers to review functional correctness and usability
INVESTMENT SERVICES TRACK
As an Associate within this group, you will gain insight into our industry, firm and culture, as well as, knowledge of the many different areas of the firm that contribute to the servicing of our client portfolios. Associates will have exposure to groups across the firm globally, including Trading, Portfolio Management, Legal and Compliance, and the Global Relationship Group. Throughout the entire program, you will develop a variety of skills and help to achieve our goal of exceeding client expectations.

Client Reporting & Transaction Services
This group contributes to Wellington Management’s mission by creating client, prospect, and consultant materials that support the growth and servicing of our business globally. The group is responsible for questionnaires, marketing materials, consultant databases, client reporting, presentation materials, publishing, and the processes and workflows required to support them.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Collaborate on a number of technology related initiatives designed to enhance the way the firm services our clients
· Participate in drafting responses to questionnaires requested by new business prospects, existing clients, and investment consultants
· Support the team in its goal of providing timely and automated information for reporting for our clients
Fund Services
This group is responsible for the Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Treasury Management functions for the hedge funds, trust company pools and European UCITS funds managed by Wellington.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Perform Fund Controller responsibilities for various funds, including Fund Accounting and Financial Reporting tasks
· Perform Treasury Analyst tasks, including monitoring margin and exposure changes and stock loan analysis
· Complete analytical projects related to the business, regulatory and investment oversight of our funds
Portfolio Services
This group is responsible for providing each of Wellington’s investment teams with the data, controls, and support they need to ensure that their investment intent is accurately reflected in accordance with client regulatory and operational requirements.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Provide investment teams with the appropriate controls and support to ensure investments are made in accordance with the client’s investment guidelines and regulatory requirements
· Support the operational and client services functions related to investment in bank loans
· Oversee trade settlements, monitoring controls to ensure data integrity
Qualifications
· Undergraduates graduating with a Bachelor’s degree between Fall 2020 – Summer 2021
· Demonstrated interest in process, technology, and the investment management industry (all majors and backgrounds welcome to apply)
· Strong academic performance
· Proven leadership experience and participation in community service and extracurricular activities
· Experience or coursework in at least one of the following areas:
- Business decision making, including critically analyzing business processes and using technical skills to propose solutions and enhancements
- Systems analysis, including requirements gathering, user stories, and test planning
- Software engineering, including design patterns, programming languages, and constructs
Skills
· Superior written and verbal communication skills
· Well organized, ability to multi-task and detail-oriented
· Ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to learn new concepts and subjects quickly
· Creative thinker, with the ability to generate independent ideas and thoughts

Interview Process
