Business Intelligence Student Assistant

Summary
This position is designed to be data-centered. The Business Intelligence Student Assistant will be part of a dynamic team of Residential Life professional staff who lead and develop occupancy strategy for MU housing.

This position will develop, synthesize and interpret data to inform occupancy management for the entire housing portfolio. The Business Intelligence Student Assistant will be tasked with managing updates to newly developed occupancy tools, as well as creating manuals, code and macros.

Essential Functions
The Business Intelligence Student Assistant will perform some or all of the duties listed below as assigned in conjunction with other professional staff members.

Assist with developing tools and metrics for occupancy management
·       Extrapolate data from Residential Life housing management software, surveys, Qualtrics and other sources to inform occupancy
·       Assist with developing dashboards to understand past, current and future occupancy using various data sources, such as Admissions, Student Information Services, dining, etc.
·       Develop code, macros and formulas, as well as manuals for dashboards, to ensure longevity of the occupancy tool.
 
Synthesize and interpret data
·       Facilitate data analysis to inform direction regarding occupancy
·       Prepare reports of data analysis for a variety of constituencies                   
 
Provide ongoing support for leadership team staff who manage occupancy.

Additional Responsibilities
Attend and participate in periodic staff meetings and all training sessions scheduled by the department.

Administrative and functional supervision is received from the full-time supervisor assigned.

Physical Requirements
Position requires sitting/standing/moving between locations 

Must be able to bend/squat/reach on occasion

Capable of lifting/moving/transporting materials on occasion

Duties imply the use of a computer and other office technology involving fine finger movements. 

Communicate orally and in writing with various audiences. 

Qualifications (as defined by MU)
To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester. Enrollment in the summer session is not required as long as the student was enrolled in the spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the fall semester.

Experience in Residential Life or related field

Excel, SQL and database experience required

Flexible scheduling options (mornings, nights, weekends)

Be able to work 15 hours per week on a regular basis
 
Preferred Qualifications
Exceptional communication skills, with an outgoing personality and ability to greet strangers, excitement for public speaking, passion for involvement and enthusiasm for Mizzou

Strong organizational skills, good time-management skills, reliability, a sense of commitment to the work place and the ability to work with a variety of people

Accounting master’s program participants preferred

Experience in a college student leadership role

Demonstrated ability to professionally and articulately communicate
