2021 Farm Intern
One intern is sought for year-round employment, starting approximately May 1, 2020. The length of the positions are flexible, with any starting/ending dates considered, and interns would be working alongside our crew.
Work and training involves all aspects of organic vegetable production—including seeding, cultivating, controlling insects/diseases, weeding, transplanting, harvesting, irrigating, market preparation, selling at farmers’ markets, mulching, staking, greenhouse work, season extension houses, cover cropping, maintaining soil quality, and farm business management.
Work involves 8 to 10 hours/day for 3- 5 ½ days/week. Must have stamina, want to learn, be focused, be open-minded, enjoy working as a team, and communicate.
Since The Sage Garden started as only a yard with poor soil and no farming background, we have the unique opportunity to relate to anyone who is trying to start up a farm or business. Interns have the great advantage of learning all the ins and outs of operating a successful small farm if they come with enthusiasm and a want to learn. In addition, for someone with prior farming experience, this would be a great place to hone your skills.
