Residential Services Support Manager

To further our mission of helping individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities live their best possible lives, the St. Louis Arc is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals for the position of Support Manager. The Support Manager will direct the operation and day-to-day function of a group home setting typically supporting between two and six individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. This position will assist individuals to be successful and self-determined in developing and pursing their goals ; facilitate the daily management of the living arrangements; and provide leadership and supervision to the support team while promoting active engagement and quality services.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ISP and Outcome development, implementation, and oversight
  • Provide guidance, lead, and direct support staff on distribution of day to day responsibilities
  • Assist with onboarding and retention of new staff including daily notes, work site orientation, reviews, and supervised med passes
  • Support individuals with daily living skills including but not limited hygiene supports, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean environment 
  • Collaborate with nursing team to understand and follow medical plans including medications, doctor appointments, and physical supports required for each individual
  • Assist individuals’ integration into the community with participation in support groups, employment, volunteer participation and other memberships.
  • Assist individuals in planning and implementing personal goals including empowering participants to make decisions
  • Communicate professionally in high stress or emotional situations, especially to convey information and directions
  • Execute and implement standards for Daily Note completion and review
  • Support individuals in exercising their rights and responsibilities in all areas of life
  • Demonstrates and supports all St. Louis Arc Diversity and Inclusion practices/initiatives
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Medication Administration Level 1
  • Class E License or equivalent
  • Auto Insurance
Minimum Years of Experience
  • At least two years of cumulative supervisory experience
  • At least three years working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities
 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to effectively read and write English
  • Intermediate/fluent computer knowledge and ability to learn skills to utilize database and other required software
  • Understanding of various developmental/intellectual disabilities and the supports required
  • Effective in oversight and maintenance of staffing needs, personnel issues, and budgetary concerns
  • The ability to see, hear, sit and stand as well as walk, bend, use stairs, carry and lift supplies
  • Must be physically able to provide necessary first-aid/emergency medical treatment
  • Provide physical support to individuals such as lifting up to 75 pounds, assisting with personal needs, etc. and to physically evacuate consumers from living arrangements in case of fire/natural disaster
  • Must be reliable and possess the ability to work with varying personalities and support needs
  • Must be able to make sound and immediate decisions in order to ensure the safety of people we support
  • Must possess excellent communication skills
  • Have the ability to meet deadlines
  • Effectively oversee and maintain staffing needs, personnel issues, and budgetary concerns
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms and must be able to complete documentation according to the agency guidelines.
  • Must have good organizational skills including time management, ability to prioritize, and flexibility.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills and ability to work autonomously as well as with a team
  • Must possess problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Walking between six and eight hours
  • Standing between six and eight hours
  • Lifting up to 75 pounds. from the floor to over the shoulders
  • Travel required in St. Louis metro area to support individuals in varied group homes
  • Work Environment and hours may fluctuate: Monday through Sunday; evenings, weekends, and overnight responsibilities supporting individuals in their homes and in the community
  • Equipment may vary by location and by individual and may include computer, wheelchair, walker, gait belt, Hoyer Lift, medical bed, assistance technology for communication etc., as well as basic office equipment.  The use of a personal and agency vehicle. Personal vehicle must be in good working condition and able to seat four individuals.
