Direct Support Professional (DSP)

 The IDEAL CANDIDATE:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify for employment with Woodhaven, an applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be over the age of 18, have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to obtain a Class E Chauffeur’s License, and of course be legally allowed to work in the United States.

If you do not currently meet these minimum requirements you will not be considered for employment with Woodhaven at this time.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/DUTIES:

The Direct Support Professional will be required to successfully complete an initial orientation. This will include learning American Heart Association CPR, First Aid, Abuse & Neglect, Certified Medication Administration, Positive Behavior Interventions, Universal Precautions in-service, lifting in-service, and other lectures on basic information regarding State and Federal law relevant to the organization’s policies, procedures, rules and regulations. You will be required to update these in-services annually or as notified. Attending and passing these classes is essential to your success as a Direct Support Professional. Additionally, a valid Missouri Chauffeur’s license MUST be obtained within the first two (2) weeks of employment for this position.

On-call employees must meet the following expectations to maintain their job status:

  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per month. Exceptions must be approved by the employee’s Program Manager.
  • Complete all annual required in-services by the employee’s anniversary date.
  • Keep supervisor and Human Resource Office informed of changes in employee’s telephone number and address.
  • Other expectations as identified in the Performance Plan of the employee.

It is the employee’s responsibility to contact their Program Manager on a weekly basis to discuss their availability to pick up hours. Employees who fail to meet the above guidelines may be subject to their employment being discontinued.
