Product Development & Design Intern - Summer 2021

 What You’ll Do:
  • Research and select fabrics, trims, and textile technologies that adhere to the high standards of the DTC brands. Research trends and design inspiration.
  • Ideate and develop new styles across multiple categories.
  • Assist in market research – competitive and aspirational
  • Supports design team by preparing necessary visual tools (i.e. sketches, presentation boards, fabric swatches, color standards, etc.) for meetings
  • Assist with daily communication to external vendors as needed
  • Assist as needed in updating technical illustration files via Adobe Illustrator
  • Assist as needed in maintaining product specifications in PLM including updating bills of materials, prototype requests, and construction details.
  • Attend fit sessions and cross-functional meetings to achieve an understanding of the product lifecycle
  • Assist with lab dip, trim & strike-off comments, and organization of approval records
  • Help to build seasonal color palette & chipboards
  • General organizational responsibilities include filing and maintenance of storage areas
  • Attend weekly design team meeting & weekly touch base meetings with manager
  • Attend seasonal competitive shopping trips to Madison & Chicago
  • Partner with cross-functional interns to prepare and present a capstone project.
 What We’re Looking For:
  • Working toward a degree in apparel design or related field; Junior or Senior in college preferred
  • Creative, self-motivated, professional, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Proficient with Adobe Illustrator and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word.
  • Examples of design work or a link to an online portfolio to demonstrate sketching and CAD ability
  • Knowledge of garment construction
  • Works well both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong research and analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
