Merchandise Planning & Allocation Summer Internship

About the Planning & Allocation Department:
The primary function of the Merchandise Planning & Allocation Department is to trade the Company through effective management and planning of stocks across the Claire’s and Icing brands. The Planning & Allocation team is responsible for financial plans, receipt flow, margin management and distribution of merchandise internationally in order to maximize sales and margin within the assigned departments of responsibility. Additionally, the team is responsible for allocations which include managing timely delivery and stock to North America stores to ensure sales plans and stock optimization are maximized. Working closely with the Planning & Allocation department, the core areas of responsibility are as follows:
  • Trading
  • Planning
  • Relationship with Others
  • Allocation and Replenishment
  • Management of Store Grading & Stock
 
You will learn the practical application of:
·      Provide analytical support to the planner
·      Analyze business weekly with planning team
·      Understanding of business needs, identifying trading opportunities and trend shifts globally
·      Work on special projects as assigned by planning team
·      Learn forecasting techniques to understand opportunities and mitigate risks
·      Understand in-season business management as well as pre-season strategic planning
·      Experience allocation process and allocation logic

Qualifications:
·      Be responsible, flexible, hardworking, ethical and committed to the internship program
·      Junior level or above at an accredited college or university
·      Prior retail experience preferred
·      Possess an interest in a career in retail – particularly planning and allocation
·      Strong retail math skills
·      Demonstrate collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team setting
·      Strong communication, organization, analytical and problem solving skills
