DESCRIPTION
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is seeking candidates for the position of Analyst Trainee within the Division of Transportation Operations, Systems & Support. Analyst Trainees are assigned a 40 - hour work week. Current starting salary is $47,810 and after six months is $49,990. The Operations Systems Unit (OSU) within the Division of Operations Administrative Support is the Unit responsible to design, develop, launch and maintain the necessary computer software applications and enterprise solutions to support Department maintenance and operations work. Staff in this unit will be responsible for developing these enterprise solutions and systems through treasury software contracts and consultant agreements. Furthermore, this unit is in charge
of creating ways to incorporate new technology into the management of operations work to improve efficiency and performance. Staff in this unit would serve as Subject Matter Experts (SME) for all operations computer applications. This Unit is complex in that it includes design, development, training and customer support activities and is critical during times when emergency
response is paramount.

Job Duties
•Troubleshoot, research, and resolve workstation and server hardware and software problems.
•Collaborate with IT Customer Service, network staff, application developers, and vendors on more difficult problems or recurring errors that are system - wide or have affected more than a few users to bring about problem resolution.
•Work with Business Unit, OIT, and vendors to monitor, administer, and maintain TOS&S servers and systems.
•Document systems and procedures.
•Develop applicable procedures as required. Prepared manuals and literature to use for training staff and end users.
•Answer inquiries from system users; explained system functions and provided technical assistance in the use and application of system features.
•Ensure all user and unit requests are recorded, prioritized, assigned, resolved, and documented.
•Consult with vendors and develop and maintain a positive business relationships.
•Attend conferences, forums, and technological symposiums to keep up to date on current and developing technologies.
•Initiate/modify projects, programs, and applications to promote increased efficiency and effectiveness of operational goals.
•Conducting information gathering and business analysis for existing and new Information Technology initiatives.
•Recommend the purchase of new and replacement applications system and platforms.
•Plan, evaluate, test, and implement desktop and network technology solutions in support of TOS&S business operations.


REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited college or University with a Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualities/Experience
• IT or Software/Enterprise Project Experience
• Global Information Systems (GIS) Work Experience
