We are currently seeking candidates for an AVP Underwriter position in Westchester’s Financial Lines New York City office. The ideal underwriter will have significant experience handling professional lines of coverage and managing people in addition to their own underwriting responsibilities.
 
 
 
Our Underwriters are responsible for blending analytical and marketing skills into an effective business style by applying analytical skills to the risk assessment process; developing solutions for global customers; cultivating relationships with agents and brokers while using relationship to place business with Westchester; selling Westchester’s competitive advantages in the marketplace and negotiating pricing and terms and conditions in a competitive marketplace that meet the customer’s needs and positions Westchester to achieve a profit.
 
 
 
The ideal underwriter will have significant experience handling Professional Liability lines of coverage. As an AVP, major duties and responsibilities are:
    * Solicits new and renewal submissions from brokers
    * Determines terms, conditions and binds coverage
    * Representing the company at client meetings
    * Documents the underwriting files
    * Handles more complex files and portfolios within underwriting authority
    * Assists in the professional risk product training and development of underwriters
    * Understand and communicate the professional risk coverage responses from multiple lines of business
    * Assist other underwriters in achieving their goals through joint travel, approvals, and strategic planning for new/renewal business
    * Broker relationship development and management
    * Servicing accounts throughout the policy cycle and
 
Underwriting a book of E&O related products that include:
 
·       Cyber and Privacy Liability
 
·       Miscellaneous Professional Liability
 
·       Technology Errors & Omissions
 
·       Employed Lawyers Liability
 
·       Media Liability
 
·       Public Officials Liability
 
·       School Leaders Liability
    * May supervise other Prof Risk underwriters
 
 
 
 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    * 7- 10 years Cyber/E&O/D&O underwriting experience
    * Bachelor’s degree
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    * Strong existing wholesale broker relationships
    * Knowledge of insurance industry
    * Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
    * Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    * Internet usage
    * Oral and written communication skills
    * Negotiation skills
    * Marketing skills
