Direct Care Aide (PRN Support Care) - Fulton State Hospital

Salary: $12.98/hr - $20.33/hr (depedent upon unit assignment and shifts)
Shifts and Hours: Set weekly schedule required (less than 19 hours per week), to be discussed upon hire. PRN employees cannot work more than 1040 hours in a rolling year from date of hire. Flexible hours and shifts as determined by staffing need of the Hospital and Central Scheduling. Shift definitions:
 Weekdays - Monday through Friday, 6:45am through 7:15pm; 11pm through 7:15am
Evenings - Monday through Friday, 7pm through 11pm
Weekends - Friday 7pm through Monday 6:45am

Positions Available:
(PRN) Support Care Assistant - Hearnes Forensic Center/HFC (Minimum Security Units)
(PRN) Security Support Care Assistant - Sex Offender Rehabilitation and Treatment Services/SORTS (Intermediate Security Units)
(PRN) Security Support Care Assistant - Nixon Forensic Center/NFC (High Security Units)

What you’ll do:
·         Provide direct care, treatment, and/or security of forensic psychiatric and/or sex offender clients in minimum, intermediate, and high security areas
·         Accountable for assisting clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks.
·         Assist in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned
·         Collect and maintain records of fluid intake and output
·         Report on the condition of clients
·         May perform internal environment of care checks or perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting
·         May also be responsible in assisting with passing medications

All you need for success:
Minimum Qualifications
·         Must be at least 21 years or older to work in SORTS units 
    Must be at least 20 years or older to work in High Security NFC Units
    Must be at least 18 years or older to work in Minimum Security HFC Units
·         Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric population
·         Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed
Preferred Qualifications
·         1+ years of Direct Care experience
·         Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
·         Ability to provide compassion and empathy
