Program Overview


Milliman, one of the world’s largest providers of actuarial and related products and services, is looking for motivated applicants for an internship opportunity based out of our Windsor, Connecticut practice during the spring of 2022. This is a seasonal temporary position.

Candidates should be bright, talented, and hard-working individuals with strong math and analytical skills. 

Preferred candidates should meet the following criteria:
  • Preferred applicants are those who are working towards or have completed a degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, statistics, data science, economics, computer science, engineering, accounting, a related field, or an actuarial designation, or other majors with a quantitative focused curriculum
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to work on multiple types of projects at one time
  • Self-motivated and inspired to perform well by the ability to contribute to the success of a project or the organization
  • Excel, programming, and prior internship experience or work is a plus, but not a requirement for this position

Role


Interns will work as part of a collaborative team to analyze claims data, quantify the cost of insurance coverage, and model payment scenarios for both public and private sector clients. Prior experience in healthcare consulting is not required; our experienced staff will provide you with the tools and training necessary to complete a variety of interesting projects, which may include:
  • Pricing and analysis for Medicare plans.
  • Providing medical and pharmacy benefit design strategy support for insurance carriers, state health exchanges, and employers.

Interns will expand their technical skill set with platforms such as Excel, VBA, Python, and SAS. Individual responsibilities may vary based on business needs.

Time Commitment


This internship will be a full time seasonal position that requires significant time commitment. We are ideally looking to fill these positions with individuals willing to work extended full-time hours (40+ hours/week). The preferred start and end dates are January 18, 2022 through June 10, 2022 depending on business need, respectively, though there is some flexibility surrounding these dates.
This position will be based out of the Milliman practice in Windsor, CT. Remote candidates will be considered.
