Legislative Intern (Missouri State Senate)

The Missouri Senate Internship Program provides an opportunity to be an active participant in the legislative process of our state. Senate interns will work closely either with the Senator and staff. You will be part of a governing body that produces laws and shapes public policy for the State of Missouri.

The internship is open to current college students, graduates, and recent graduates. Some institutions may offer course credit, please check with your institution.

The Missouri Senate provides a meaningful and intellectually stimulating work experience. The hours are flexible, based upon the academic requirements, but must be regular. Interns are given the opportunity to acquire new skills and gain first-hand knowledge of the political process.

Throughout the course of an internship, you will be asked to handle a wide variety of duties essential to the legislative process and designed to provide you with a valuable educational experience. Some of these responsibilities include:
  • Conducting research on specific issues
  • Monitoring and reporting on committee meetings for legislators
  • Researching and drafting responses to constituent inquiries
  • Summarizing reports or bills
  • Assisting with mail, phone calls, and other constituent services

This position will be with the office of Republican State Senator Andrew Koenig (St. Louis County).

The experience and knowledge acquired during the state legislative session can be a great asset and may lead to exciting career opportunities. This internship runs from January 5, 2022 through May 13, 2022. during the regular legislative session. Applications should be submitted no later than Tuesday, November 30th.
