Professional I/II Financial Analyst

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado is the nation's primary laboratory for research and development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.

Work within a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) organization closely collaborating with other CFO analysts and managers. Assist with daily administration, planning and tracking of financial functions. Duties may include collecting and evaluating data, conducting basic analysis, and preparing standard reports and presentations related to a specific area or function. May also help solve financial planning, programming, budgeting, and execution tasks, as well as improve institutional processes.
Job responsibilities may include the following: 

  • Financial reporting at project / center / directorate / program level.
  • Gathering and processing large data sets.
  • Variance analysis of financial results.
  • Assisting staff with financial planning / budgeting.
  • Supporting NREL staff with financial queries and questions.
  • Monthly processing and submission of cost transfers.

Basic Qualifications

Professional Level I:
Relevant Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience with a focus in finance, accounting, business, economics, mathematics or similar field.

Professional Level II:
Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience with a focus in finance, accounting, business, economics, mathematics or similar field. Or, relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience with a focus in finance, accounting, business, economics, mathematics or similar field.
